About Jesse…

Jesse Simpson, a 2021 graduate of the prestigious Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), brings a wealth of experience from his professional career to his teaching. At WAAPA, Jesse took on major roles such as The Baker in Into the Woods, Dance Captain/Bobby understudy in Crazy for You, Victor in Cabaret, and Nathan Starkey in Strictly Ballroom.

His most recent performances include leading roles as Harold Hill in The Music Man and Scott Hastings in Strictly Ballroom, for which he was awarded the Music Theatre Guild of Victoria’s Dancer Award. Jesse is also set to appear as Malcolm in the upcoming production of The Tragedy of Macbeth with Overflow Theatre Company in May 2025.

Professionally, Jesse has performed as part of the Ensemble in Disney's Frozen the Musical and appeared in Swan Lake with The Australian Ballet. His screen credits include roles in Australian television hits Neighbours, Wentworth, and Jack Irish.

Training and Education

Jesse’s coaching is built on a foundation of high standards, practical application, and a results-driven approach. His goal is to push performers to the next level, equipping them with the skills, awareness, and confidence to thrive in an ever-evolving industry.

With a holistic understanding of voice and movement, Jesse seamlessly integrates singing, acting, and dance, ensuring students develop into well-rounded, dynamic performers. His training in anatomy and physiology gives him a unique edge, allowing him to teach vocal technique with a deep awareness of breath support, resonance, and vocal sustainability. He emphasises the connection between the voice and body, helping students unlock genuine, grounded performances that are truthful and compelling.

A core focus of Jesse’s coaching is bridging the gap between spoken text and sung text, ensuring seamless transitions that feel authentic and cohesive. His method goes beyond technical training - he works with students to develop text analysis, character depth, and emotional nuance, ensuring their performances resonate with audiences on both stage and screen.

As an active industry professional, Jesse stays engaged with current casting trends and industry expectations. He brings first-hand knowledge of what casting teams are looking for, offering practical, real-world guidance for audition preparation and performance success.

With over a decade of teaching experience across singing, acting, and dance, Jesse tailors his coaching to each performer’s individual needs - whether preparing for auditions, refining technique, or building the confidence to own the stage and screen. His passion lies in elevating performers to their full potential and helping them deliver compelling, unforgettable performances.
